| Is Borat Funny or Offensive? You Decide! |
No matter whether you have seen the new Borat movie or not you have most certainly heard about it. Reviews are all over the Internet and chat rooms and forums are literally talking about nothing else. But, what is all the chatter over? Is the movie that big of a deal that it deserves so much press? It seems the reason Borat is really garnering so much attention is because it is hysterical, politically incorrect, and really pushes the envelope. So much so that moviegoers may be questioning whether the movie is funny or offensive even while they are laughing their heads off. For some reason the movie just has that affect on people. Yet, the question of whether the movie is funny or offensive is still asked.
Many moviegoers say that Borat’s, the main character, ignorance over everything is really a creative way of making fun of those in the world who really have no tolerance for Jews, blacks, homosexuals, and even women. The way the movie works out is by making fun of everyone and everything in some very extreme ways. However, most people think that the movie is not actually portraying those feelings but rather pointing fingers at those who do.
On the other hand, since the Toronto Film Festival many critics have literally been ripping the film for being offensive in this day and time when acceptance is politically correct. Yet, other critics support the film’s creativity in all of its political incorrectness. You will have to see the film yourself to determine whether you think it is funny or offensive. But, the fact of the matter is that you will probably find it a lot of both, because it is completely offensive and wildly hysterical at the same time. |
